1. There was a real smartphone explosion in Yakutsk

The leaders in the growth of smartphones and tablets are Yakutsk and Ulan-Ude. Why not Moscow? It’s simple, in these areas, 3G appeared faster than 2G, and even home Internet, so a device with access to the network is necessary for at least some kind of communication. In absolute terms, the leaders are Moscow and St. Petersburg.
2. Young people in the vast majority buy smartphones
85% (read “almost all”) of young people have chosen a smartphone. And the older generation still uses phones. Your grandmother absolutely does not need all these Facebooks and vibers.
3. Sale of LTE routers is a “gold mine” of operators
The router is the absolute record holder in terms of growth last year. They sold 521% more. Routers are placed at home or carried with them. And all thanks to the expansion of the LTE network. We cut fiber, the future is 4G.
4. Smartphones and tablets with LTE are much more popular

The network has been deployed, it remains to buy a device that understands 4G. Hence the increase in both smartphones and tablets.
There are 104% more smartphones with LTE in the user base. In turn, the number of tablets with fourth-generation network support increased by “only” 46%.
5. Almost all Russians choose Android

iOS is on 15-18% percent of all mobile devices. The main mass, almost 80%, was crushed by the “green robot”. Quite an expected result, not everyone is ready to pay 30-40 thousand for a new iPhone or iPad.
6. Five-inch “shovels” are leading in sales in Russia
Devices with a diagonal of 5-5.9 inches were bought most often, their growth in the user base is 112%. And from 4-inch, on the contrary, they refuse, their number decreased by 24%. On the other hand, five-inch smartphones are represented in almost every price segment. So, there was simply no choice.
7. Large tablets are not popular.
Giants with a screen of 10 inches and above are almost never taken, only 10% of the increase. The preferences of Russians have leaned towards 7-10 inch tablets, there are 102% more of them, and we already know that we are not talking about iPads.
8. In Russia, they really, really like cheap smartphones.

Last year there was a “boom” for cheap smartphones. They were bought twice as often as in the “dead” 2014. Interestingly, there is no clear leader in tablets. They just sold more than last year.
9. There are still fewer smartphones than phones
Surprisingly, not everyone has got their own smartphone. In our country, most of the population prefers regular phones. But at this rate, the situation will change in a couple of years.
For 2015, 43.7% of Russians use smartphones. Compared to 2014, the figure increased by 19%.
