…and mired in a crisis.

Today, leading electronics manufacturers and, in particular, reputable companies representing the smartphone market, perceive Russia as a “second wave” market platform. This means that the announced flagships hit the shelves of Russian retailers with a certain delay of several weeks, and sometimes even months.

But the situation, already not sweet, may worsen. Thus, LG, HTC and a number of representatives of the A-brand segment began to refuse to supply expensive equipment to the territory of the Russian Federation. The only arguments are the economic crisis and low demand for flagships.

Flagships announced the day before HTC 10 and LG G5, reaching the Russian market, may lose half of their power, and “simplified versions” of the HTC 10 Lifestyle and LG G5 SE smartphones (familiar letters …) will hit the shelves. Instead of 4 GB, a 3 GB version of smartphones with a less productive chipset will be delivered to Russia Sanpdragon 652 instead of the flagship Snapdragon 820.

Two weeks ago, one of the largest chain stores “Euroset» carried out a total revision of the pricing policy for more than 200 models of phones and smartphones. The next one was “Svyaznoy”, and dozens of other trading platforms were forced to revise the range of presented products.

According to marketers, even such a price reduction did not lead to the expected result, and large Russian stores are preparing for another “landslide wave”. From the once “affordable devices for mass demand”, smartphones have become a category of “limited goods”. [HTMail]
