In Russia, sales of smartphones have sharply increased before the new academic year, Kommersant reports.

According to Svyaznoy, in the third quarter of 2021, 8.4 million smartphones worth 180.8 billion rubles were sold. This is 30% more than in the previous quarter.

In Citylink, sales of smartphones in the third quarter increased by 70%, in MegaFon by 38%.

A Citilink spokesman said that the increase in sales may be due to one-time social payments at the end of this summer.

In September, we recorded an increase in audience interest in smartphones, which can be associated with the beginning of the school year, additional payments from the state to certain categories of citizens, as well as the release of new products from leading brands.
