During an interview with the Rossiya 24 channel, Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov confirmed that, unlike other politicians, Vladimir Putin does not use smartphones or mobile phones.
Peskov compared the presence of a smartphone with “voluntary exhibitionism.”
As far as I know, he doesn’t have a phone.
Picking up a smartphone, you put a tick that you are ready to put everything on public display. This should not be the case for a president, especially a country like Russia. Especially with Putin.
– Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov
For negotiations, Vladimir Putin uses special telephones of closed government communications. Peskov stressed that such devices “are able to outlive all smartphones.”
In February of this year, Vladimir Putin himself said that he does not use a smartphone. Answering Mikhail Kovalchuk, President of the Research Center Kurchatov Institute, the President noted: “You say that everyone has smartphones. And I don’t have it.”
Putin stressed that he rarely uses the Internet. [Ведомости]
