The average price of a smartphone sold in Russia in the first half of 2021 was 23,700 rubles, which is 44% more than in the same period last year, Vedomosti reports, citing MTS materials.

MTS spokesman Alexei Merkutov added that sales of inexpensive smartphones are falling because they do not meet the needs of consumers. People are increasingly choosing smartphones with more memory and a better camera.

In Svyaznoy, the average check grew by 43%. This is the biggest jump in the last three years.

This is the first noticeable jump in the average price in the last three years. A significant increase in the average price of smartphones, but still not as big as this year, was recorded in the first half of 2018 – an increase of 21% compared to the same period in 2017.

The growth of the average price was also significantly affected by the demand for the iPhone. At MTS, the iPhone 11 became the sales leader in the first half of 2021.

In Svyaznoy, the average check for an iPhone increased by 23% and amounted to 73,000 rubles. [Ведомости]
