In the beta version of WhatsApp, they found a mention of a new Premium subscription. The functions associated with it are placed in a separate section of the menu, so even before the launch it became known what would be included in it.
Basically, these features are aimed at business clients of the messenger. In particular, WhatsApp Premium allows you to create a custom profile link that can be updated every three months. They will be in the format wa.me/selected_text. This will make it easier for the client to go to the chat: there will be no need to enter a phone number.
Also, a subscription will allow you to use one account from 10 devices, so that several employees can manage one business account. Finally, WhatsApp Premium also unlocks video calls for up to 32 participants.
All functions that are already in the application will remain free for users – a subscription will only expand the basic capabilities. Telegram has previously followed a similar path with its Premium subscription.
It is not yet known how much WhatsApp Premium will cost: in the beta, only banners and settings items related to new features are visible so far, but it is not yet possible to subscribe. The timing of its possible release is also not yet reported.
