The new smartphone was called BlackBerry Priv (instead of the expected Venice). The company’s CEO, John Chen, showed off the device on BNN. Instead of the native OS from BlackBerry, the slider is equipped with an upgraded Android Lollipop 5.1.1.

According to rumors, Priv will receive a 5.4-inch screen with a resolution of 1440 × 2560 pixels (537ppi). The side edges of the display are curved like the Samsung Galaxy s6 edge. A Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 hexa-core processor and 3GB of RAM should overclock the device well. The rear 18-megapixel camera, like the new iPhones, shoots 4K video, the resolution of the front camera is 5 megapixels.

The BlackBerry Priv is expected to cost no more than $700. [geektimes]

[Обновлено] The Canadian company has published official images of the device on its blog.
